The first episode of Texas Brown Sugar is finally here and I can’t wait for you to see what
we’ve been up to this year! Nothing about the way I cook is fancy or complicated. As a busy
Wife, Mom, and Entrepreneur it is important for me to provide tasty, easy, and budget
friendly food for my family. And I am excited to cook alongside with you as we make some
of my favorite recipes.
We’re kicking off the first episode with my Grandmother’s famous chess pie. As a kid, we
would go to my Grandparent’s house every weekend and my Grandmother would bake
some sort of dessert. They were all great, yet one of my favorites was her chess pie. I loved
this pie. Over the years, the recipe was lost and I could not find it. I searched all over the
internet and none of them were Momma Pauline’s chess pie. And after 12 years, my mother
found the recipe! Cooking this pie was like going back to my Grandparent’s kitchen. This pie
is a way for my daughters to feel connected to a woman they never got a chance to meet. I
think my Grandmother would be proud this pie lives on in such a special way for our family.
Let’s sweetin’ up your life!
